About me

Hi! My name is Yvonne and I am happily married and have two wonderful children.  I do not have a degree in sleep studies (I am actually a CPA) but I started to research it after I had my first child.  Sleep deprivation is a good motivator! In school, I always liked the subject of math and science.  English was my least favorite subject, so please forgive any grammatical errors.:)  But what I learned was that sleep is actually a very scientific process.  So that definitely appealed to my scientific side of my brain, and I became quite fascinated with the subject.  And I hope to share some of my knowledge with you.

When I had my first, I didn't really know much about infant sleep.  I guess I thought that babies sleep a lot and I knew there are around the clock feedings at first but just assumed they settle down and sleep longer stretches soon.  Yes, this does happen but often you have to help them and teach them and guide them.  It is actually a learned skill for most babies.  Unless you have a "born sleeper", but from my own experience and from the experience of a lot of moms I know, this is not that common:) So it sounds totally ignorant and I'm not sure what I expected! All I knew was that I was really tired after having 4 weeks of minimal sleep and someone recommended a book and it opened my eyes completely to this world of infant sleep.  The role of good sleep is  very important in the healthy development of infants and children (for all of us really, but much more important during the formative years).  I started to do more research and found several good books with very valuable information.  And so I hope that you will find some of this information to be useful for you and your family.
